On New Year’s Day January 1, 2013 Natural Balance Pet Foods in coordination with the John Burnam Monument Foundation will enter a Rose Parade float representing the Military Working Dog Teams National Monument (graphics rendering below). I, John Burnam, will be riding the float along with a supporting cast of U.S. Military Working Dog Teams representing the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Cost Guard. The 2013 Rose Parade will be televised nationally and overseas. As soon as the final float has passed in review, they will be parked and showcased for the public and media. Parked next to the national monument float will be a vehicle carrying the national monument’s actual bronze statues of the four military working dogs and dog handler, and for the first time, unveiled for public viewing. Afterwards, the bronze statues will start their journey across America, stopping in various cities and military bases along the way. A list of actual stops will be posted at www.jbmf.us as they become available. The national road trip will end at Lackland Air Force base, San Antonio, Texas in late summer 2013 and the bronze statues will be permanently mounted on a large granite pedestal in preparation for the dedication in October 2013. Specific dedication date will be announced in the spring of 2013. If you attend the parade, please stop by and say hello to the JBMF, Inc. team of myself, Larry Chilcoat, Treasurer, and Kristie Dober, Secretary. – John Burnam, President, JBMF, Inc.
